Yard vs. Meter Pool

UPDATED May 2009

The conversion factor of converting 25 yard times to 25 meter times is: 1.11.

This means that whatever time a swimmer has at a yard pool needs to be multiplied by 1.11 to get the equivalent meter pool time.

The pool lengths of the RMSL consist of both 25 meter and 25 yard pools. All records for the RMSL are kept in meters. This means that the swimmers’ times for meets at pools that are 25 yards long need to be converted to times that would be equivalent for a 25 meter pool.

Additionally, all prelim entries must be submitted in meter times, so teams need to make the conversion from yards to meters when submitting their prelim entries if they have yard times recorded for their swimmers best times.

A 25 meter pool is termed “the short course.”

A 50 meter pool is termed “the long course”.
